This film is a film about choice, and power, and change. This is about the strength of a people to overcome tyranny, and the struggles that bond us. This is about personal choice and moral responsibility, an account of the life of Luke Petrovich, a man deeply involved in the Perez family thatheld control of small, oil-rich, Plaquemines Parish. It is difficult to explain the power of patriarch Leander Perez and strength of the regime he built. During his lifetime, he held sway over not only Plaquemines Parish, but also state and federal lawmaking. His political pull drew lines on maps and designed legislation for his own financial gain and segregationist agenda. After decades of being embedded in the Perez family, Luke Petrovich chose to turn against them. He waged an all-out political war to do what was right introducing democracy to the Parish, though it would eventually lead to his own demise. Luke chose to go against all he knew and dismantle the very system that made him. He chose democracy and the people over everything and returned power in Plaquemines to the citizens of the parish along with millions in oil revenue, eventually ushering in the first free election in 50 years.
